Phonics in the Foundation Stage Church Hill Infant School

Our Aim To inspire! A love of reading and books! Children seeing themselves as writers!

We use Letters and Sounds to deliver our phonics teaching

Phase 1 I am learning to hear and make sounds Phase 2 I am learning some letter sounds and how to put them together to make words Phase 3 I am learning all the sounds and what they look like Phase 4 I am learning to read and spell more difficult words Phase 5 I am learning that some sounds can be spelt differently and am trying to write them Phase 6 I am learning to read and spell fluently and effectively

The Phases Phase 1 Phase 26 weeks High frequency words aligned with Phases Phase 312 weeks Phase 44/6 weeks Phase 5Y1 Phase 6Y2

Let’s practice!

Driving torque reduction in linkage mechanisms using joint compliance for robot head The conventional linkage mechanisms with compliant joint have been widely studied and implemented for increasing the adaptability of the mechanism to external contacts. However, the analysis of how compliant joints in linkage mechanism can reduce the energy consumption isn’t still studied deeply. In a mobile service robot head, the actions of blinking the eyes and moving the eyeballs are realized by the planar linkage mechanism respectively. Therefore, minimizing the driving torques through motion trajectories for the linkage mechanism, which will be beneficial to extend the working time for mobile service robots. The dynamic modeling of the linkage mechanism with springs-loaded compliant joint is established. An optimization procedure for obtaining the optimal parameters of springs is proposed for minimizing the max value of driving torques within a range of desired operating conditions.

Reading and Writing Focus activities Book bands Reading books Reading Journals Reading Stars Guided Reading ‘Reading Eggs’ Opportunities for children to apply their learning

Expectations Reading Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read. Writing Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds. They also use some irregular common words. They write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Some words are spelt correctly and others are phonetically. Early Learning Goals

Ways to help at home Lots of talk! Lots of experiences! Lots of stories! Activities Website Hear your child read –little and often No pressure! Joy of reading!

Any questions?

Many thanks. Safe journey home!
