‘People are at the heart of everything we do’ ‘For the first time I can see wonderful changes in my daughter’ ‘I feel that Young Addaction is the one service that will make a difference’. ‘When my daughter displayed difficult behaviour, Darren accepted that she was testing the relationship….she realised that he wasn’t going to give in so easily, as so many have done before’ (letter – Preston parent) ‘They don’t make cards to say cheers for dragging me through the last 2 years of XXXX, so this will have to do. Thanks for everything you have done.’ (Thank you card, Tom Client in recovery) Young Addaction Central and North Lancashire are a client and carer centred alcohol and drug recovery service for young people primarily under 18 but we do take on particularly vulnerable young people up to 21 years old. What does Young Addaction provide in North and Central Lancashire? We have been commissioned by the Lancashire Drug and Alcohol Action Team to provide recover and treatment with Young People What is recover and treatment? Essentially it means engaging with young people who may be misusing or dependent on alcohol and/or drugs and often their parents or carers, providing evidenced based intervention that have been proven to help young people to reduce or stop risk taking behaviour such as substance misuse and to increase health and wellbeing. This may also include prescribed interventions for Alcohol detoxification and Opiate use. We also have added investment from the JCU, LCC, DfE to provide a variety of additional lower level (Tier 2) interventions that are aimed at engaging with young people who may be at risk of substance misuse or experiencing harms relating to alcohol and drugs. These activities include: Targeted outreach often alongside the police and CSP’s in areas of known YP ASB. Targeted group work in schools and with other partners teaching brief intervention skills Educational and diversionary activities with our Aspire project which has included concerts, Graffiti and film projects, Mocktail Parties and other community projects that often include AQA awards for YP Street Talk – Working with partners who will engage with YP in their communities and offer brief intervention Skills 4 Change – Hidden harm work in schools. First Steps – Working and training with Sure Starts.
