KENYA TOURISM FEDERATION (KTF) VISION To be the authoritative voice for Kenya’s tourism industry private sector. MISSION To promote a sustainable tourism sector through effective representation of private sector stakeholder interests on a national level

KTF SAFETY AND COMMUNICATION CENTRE The Safety and Communication Centre was formed to address the need for information on and response to situations that affect the safety / security of tourists in the country. The SCC is manned 24/7 all year round by professional and dedicated staff, and is equipped with HF radios and other communication equipment.

KTF SAFETY AND COMMUNICATION CENTRE Nairobi – Based at KTF offices at KWS complex Langata Mombasa – Based at Southern Cross safaris Mombasa office.

KEY FUNCTIONS OF THE SCC ARE: Provides tourists intending to visit with information on security, weather, road conditions, health, and updates based on facts. Coordination of efforts of key security organs and emergency healthcare and evacuation providers in emergencies

KEY FUNCTIONS (cont’d) Monitor, respond to and keep database of reported and non- reported tourism related incidents. Update stakeholders with relevant security information, e.g. incident occurrences and site reports.

KEY FUNCTIONS (cont’d) Send out alerts to industry stakeholders on emergency situations reported in tourist circuits and routes, so that operators and accommodation providers take necessary precautions. Assist tourists with the necessary formalities in case of an incident and provide the necessary follow-up.

KEY FUNCTIONS (cont’d) Lobby tourism industry players to institute safety equipment in their premises and vehicles and advice on safety measures and precautions Co-ordinate EPOP (Election Period Operational Procedures)

It is important to note that information received at the safety centre from operators and accommodation providers on safety and security situation is not at any point shared with the media and circulation of the same is limited.

KTF – SCC looks forward to establishing mutually beneficial working relationships with you and enhancing existing ones. – This will ensure our own survival and growth of our economy by protecting and ensuring a hassle free visit to the country of our main employer – The Tourist. The Tourist.
