GEOCACHING GEO – Geography Caching – Hiding supplies or provisions

WHAT IS IT??? It's a high tech treasure hunt. Someone hides a container of inexpensive nick nacks -- a cache. Then they post its coordinates (latitude & longitude on a map) on the internet, and other people go hunting for it. If they find it they trade nicknacks and sign a log to record their visit.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?? Access to the internet GPS device Pen / Pencil / Paper Something to leave in the cache

WHAT DOES A GPS LOOK LIKE?

WHAT DOES A CACHE LOOK LIKE / WHAT’S IN IT?

Here are some we have found Sam and Tom with some caches

WHERE ARE THEY HIDDEN? When searching for the cache look for something unnatural -- piles of sticks, bark, rocks, leaves or other debris. Check out tree stumps, logs, and hollow tree trunks. Hidden in walls. Buried underground. Under tree roots.

REMEMBER WHERE TO LOOK IN TREES!!

HELP!!!! But don’t climb too high!!

UNDER ROCKS!! It’s behind you!!!

YAY!!!!! If you take something out, put something in and don’t forget to sign the log

CACHE IN TRASH OUT We need to keep our countryside tidy so when you go for a walk, take a carrier bag and pick up rubbish as you walk – every little helps

CLASS 3 GEOCACHE We are going to plant your very own Class 3 Cache!! All think of a name – winner drawn out of a hat Cache will be planted up Rivington When someone finds the cache a copy of the log will be sent to Mrs Brown!!

THANKS FOR LISTENING!!!! YOU WERE GREAT!!! ANY QUESTIONS????

WHO WOULD LIKE TO TRY TO FIND A CACHE? I have hidden 3 caches in the playground so we need to get into 3 groups of 6 and lets go geocaching!!!
