SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND CACHES WORLDWIDE MILLIONS OF GEOCACHERS 12 TYPES OF GEOCACHES (TRADITIONAL, MULTI, EARTHCACHE, PUZZLE, EVENT CACHE…) SUBSET: YOUNG STUDENTS,, WEATHER ENTHUSIASTS, AND PEOPLE INTERESTED IN WEATHER PATTERNS FOR SPECIFIC AREAS.

THE PROPOSED WEATHERCACHING EXPERIMENT COMBINES THE SOCIETAL DESIRE TO PLAY A ROLE IN THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE WITH THE ESTABLISHED POPULARITY OF LOCATION BASED ACTIVITIES SUCH AS GEOCACHING AND THE LARGE ONLINE COMMUNITY THAT POSSESS CONSUMER ELECTRONIC LOCATION ENABLED DEVICES.

ENCOURAGE WEATHERCACHERS TO BUILD AND PLACE LOW COST WEATHER STATIONS IN INTERESTING AND SCIENTIFICALLY SIGNIFICANT LOCATIONS ONCE THE STATIONS ARE IN PLACE WEATHERCACHERS WILL POST GPS LOCATION ON GEOCACHING.COM AS A WEATHERCACHE AS WELL AS BROWSE OTHER LOCATIONS TO VISIT ONCE A LOCATION HAS BEEN FOUND WEATHERCACHERS WILL REPORT WEATHER STATION READINGS TO WEATHERCACHING.COM. HERE THEY WILL FIND THE CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM “HYDROSERVER LITE” DATA FOR EACH STATION IS COLLECTED ORGANIZED AND AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING AND EDITING
