Dramaturgy

Dramaturge O A special consultant who provides specific, in-depth knowledge and literary resources to a director, producer, or entire theatre company.

Responsibilities O Read and evaluate plays for consideration. O Research literary, historical, or sociological questions related to a play.

Dramaturgy Things to consider: O Include any definitions for any words you do not currently understand. O Explain any historical references that are made in the play. O Explain any colloquialisms or dialect words that occur in the text. O Explain any indirect inferences made in the text to outside texts or concepts. O Explain any awards or accolades the play or playwright has received, if any. O Provide examples of time period appropriate design elements.

Your Task as a Dramaturge O Read a play! O SCRIPT: O Find references in the text you are unfamiliar with, then define and or explain them. (Provide words / terms) O WARDROBE: O Find images representative of fashion design of the time period. (Provide at least 12 images)
