LDC News & Updates

10 ●To be released at June National Convening ●Rubrics for Grades 6-8 and 9-12 Argumentation & Informational/Explanatory LDC teaching tasks have been released ●All rubrics have been extensively field-tested and revised based on feedback ●Rubrics have been found to have a high degree of reliability ●New set of rubrics features: ○Clearer, more concise language to make it easier to know what to look for and how to score ○Separate rubrics for narrower grade ranges (6-8 and 9-12, etc.) ○A reduction in number of core scoring dimensions from 7 to 5 ○New optional scoring dimension for scoring “additional demands” ○Flexibility to pick from menus of options when determining which criteria to use for “Disciplinary Content Understanding” ■ To this end, so far science/NGSS options have been released Student Work Rubrics from SCALE

New Student Work Rubrics

New Student Work Rubrics from SCALE

Student Work Rubrics from SCALE 13 What’s Next? ●New Argumentation and Informational/Explanatory rubrics for elementary grade ranges ●History/Social Studies and other options for “Disciplinary Content Understanding” ●Updated “rationale” for the changes to the rubrics ●Samples of scored student work with annotated rubrics ●Updates to LDC CoreTools to support and enhance flexible use of the student work rubrics ●Guided support for using new rubrics ●Your feedback!

Reading Rubrics Coming Soon! LDC/ SCALE will be releasing new reading rubrics for literature and informational reading – these will be one-row rubrics for each reading standard, or subsets of each reading standard. ●9-12 will be released first. ●MS and ES rubrics will follow by the end of the summer. These rubrics can be used for multiple purposes: 1.The content row for Literature (ELA) for the LDC student work rubric – making the reading skills transparent in that rubric. 2.Rubric for stand alone mini-tasks. 3.Rubric for benchmark mini-tasks that are used repeatedly throughout the year as assessment touchpoints. 14

16

Feedback How do coaches articulate the goals of the LDC work and situate that in context? What kind of feedback are coaches in your network providing to teachers? How is it being provided? How is the feedback being used by teachers? Is feedback instrumental or incidental? 17

NOTIFICATIONS 18 ●Users now receive notifications whenever new comments are made on any modules or mini-tasks that they are collaborating on. Much like Google Docs, these s include the new comments in the itself and a link to open the item being commented on. ●LDC CoreTools won’t send you a notification when multiple comments are added to the same item within a short period of time – our system waits a little while and then sends them all at once in one . ●Users can adjust settings in their profiles to opt in and out of the different types of notifications they wish to receive by .
