 “For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.” Hebrews 5:13-14  Impurity?  Uncleanness?  Lasciviousness?  Sensuality?  Passions?

Immodesty… Clothe Both Mind And Body

Darkened understanding callouses the heart to practice impure and sensual deeds.  Ephesians 4:18, 19  Modesty and immodesty are both heart matters.  Glorify God or glorify yourself?  Immodesty is impurity, sensuality and passion.

Darkened understanding callouses the heart to practice impure and sensual deeds.  akatharisia – unclean, lustful, shameless living…  aselgeia – unbridled lust, wantonness, filthiness, indecency, unchaste and unrestrained conduct…  pathos – bad desires, desires inconsistent with God’s will, lusts…

Darkened understanding callouses the heart to practice impure and sensual deeds.  Ephesians 4:18, 19  Modesty and immodesty are both heart matters.  Glorify God or glorify yourself?  Immodesty is impurity, sensuality and passion.  Romans 6:12, 13

Points to ponder: times when God clothed individuals.  Just loin coverings are not sufficient clothing (Genesis 3:7, 21).  Priests were required to wear undergarments under their tunics (Exodus 28:40-42; Leviticus 6:10; 16:4).  People in their right minds put on clothes (Luke 8:27, 35).

Christians are to profess godliness by the clothing they wear.  1 Timothy 2:8-10  Holiness and godliness are to be visible attributes (cf. Titus 2:12).  Godliness is a devoutness and reverence characterized by a God-ward focus and priority in doing all to please God.

Christians are to profess godliness by the clothing they wear.  What we wear does matter to God?  What are we announcing to everyone who sees us when we wear clothes that are too high or too low, too tight or too thin, which reveal the midriff, chest, breasts or thighs?

Eyes are windows into the heart and mind.  “The eye is the lamp of the body;…” (Matthew 6:22)  Turning-away-from-evil Job made a covenant with his eyes (Job 31:1)  Our eyes can cause us to sin (Matthew 18:9).  “My eyes are continually toward the L ORD,…” (Psalm 25:15).
