CUSTOMER BASE Civil and military airport Handles VIPs Serves general public

Cont… BanksSmoke areasApron handles 11 wide body air craftsFive additional parking places for military aircraftsDoes not have air bridges

AIRPORT Larger airports have operator services, ramps, air traffic control, passenger facilities such restaurant, lounges and emergency services. AIRPORT TERMINAL Building at an airport where passengers transfer between ground transportation and the facilities that allow them to board and disembark from aircraft.

AIRPORT TERMINAL (Cont..) Terminal and concourse terms are used interchangeably Larger airports have more than 1 terminal Have one terminal that is connected to multiple concourses via walkways, sky-bridges, or underground tunnels Have more than one terminal, each with one or more concourses

AIRPORT TERMINAL DESIGNS Conventional airport design

AIRPORT TERMINAL DESIGNS(Cont…) Pier Satellite terminal A pier design uses a long, narrow building with aircraft parked on both sides. A satellite terminal is a building detached from other airport buildings, so that aircraft can park around its entire circumference.

AIRPORT TERMINAL DESIGNS(Cont…)  Semi-circular terminal  Other Some airports use a semicircular terminal, with aircraft parked on one side and cars on the other. One rarer terminal design is the mobile lounge

DEMAND-SUPPLY ANALYSIS  Studies showed that air passenger traffic would reach 19.3million (terminal passenger traffic) in 2005/06, however it only reached 5.9 million in2003/04  estimated to reach a maximum of 6.5 – 7.0 in 2005/06.  Reasons  CAA user charges were high

Private airlines stopped unprofitable routes In presence of potential demand, the actual demand decreased International transit demand was another factor called as unwilling demand
