Preceding Event The trial resulted in freedom of the press, since he was giving his opinion on the king and then was sent to jail for it.

The Main Events A man named John Peter Zenger was born in Germany. He moved to America and he worked as an apprentice for a printer. After his 8 years for working as an apprentice he moved onto an official printer. He grew up and then married but his wife sadly die In his paper, Zenger often ridiculed the governor, William S. Cosby, and simply expressed his personal opinion Unfortunately, he was accused of libel, and he was put on trial. the trial became a heated courtroom war, until Andrew Hamilton, a famous lawyer, stepped out from the crowd to aid Zenger. he won the trial and zenger got out of jail

Effects There was a law made so that everyone had the Freedom of the press and speech

Places Philadelphia, since that was where Andrew Hamilton was from Germany since that was where John Peter Zenger was from, than he moved to America
