FEEDING THE NATION FROM HARVESTED WATER AND IRRIGATION TECHNOLOGIES  More than 75 commodities are supplied on the market during each agricultural season…  ….of which ¾ of the commodities are supported by harvested water  +75% of horticultural food requirements of 8 months of the year is from harvested water  More than 70% of farmers income come from horticultural crops  More than 70% of horticultural commodities are marketed through People’s (informal) markets  More than 10 jobs are created from harvest to marketing by each commodity variety  +25% of food chain stores, restaurants, hotels come through People’s markets  +60% of medium to large scale farmers are supported by the people’s markets  +75% of the urban horticulture food requirements come through People’s Markets  +75% of irrigation scheme sustain themselves from the People’s markets
