The Heart of NSBE Zone Functional Region III Programs Team

What is a Program ? A program is an organized activity or collection of activities intended to provide a service, opportunity, or resource to members. A NSBE program must have clear, defined objectives with measurable outcomes. These objectives should fall directly in line with the National Directives and the mission of this Society.

Classifications: Activity Award Competition Scholarship Program ex: A Walk for Education ex: Chapter of the Year ex: Technical Research Exhibition ex: Corporate Scholarships ex: Retention Program What is a Program ?

Regional Programs Zone Goals Increase participation in PCI programming by 25% Double the number of chapters participating in the retention program Double the number of participants in the Technical Research Exhibition (TRE) Increase the number of transcripts submission/verifications for scholarship purposes. Increase participation in T.O.R.C.H. 5 branches.

Regional Programs Zone Resident expert on NSBE programs Liaison between the national and chapter programs zone Assist with developing workshops and programs in accordance with the national directives and mission Monitor the progress of regional programs through statistical data and metrics

Chapter Programs Zone Be the resident expert on NSBE programs for your chapter. Know difference between a program vs. event Implement programs consistent with the National and Regional Directives. Maintain constant communication with regional counterparts. Develop metrics to track the development and/or success of your programs

NSBE Takeover 2015 Event Detail: Purpose: To build and promote engineering exposure post- secondary education, STEM majors, and NSBE to high school students. Date: November 6, 2015 Location: White Station High in Memphis, Tennessee (TBA) Time: TBA More information will be provide soon.

5 Branches of T.O.R.C.H. STEM Community Training – Formal classroom style education in STEM fields aimed at both youth and adults. Informal Engineering and Science Education - casual outreach activities, targeted at youth, which aim to show how science & engineering can be fun. A Walk for Education – A single day outreach activity aimed at encouraging youth to be better prepared for higher educational opportunities in STEM fields, and in general. Technical Expertise Services - Using our technical skills to provide a direct service to the community. Traditional Community Service Activities - Any other type of community service: food & clothing drives, volunteering at a shelter, etc.

T.O.R.C.H. Hours T.O.R.C.H. Hours will be sent in monthly on the 25 th of each month to Zaire. Hours will only be counted if they fall in the 5 branches. Hours will be used to help gauge effectiveness of TORCH TORCH Awards and scholarships will be given out at National Convention

How to Chapter/Reactivate NSBE Jr. Each PCI chapter must have at least 5 active members to charter or re-charter a new chapter. Each chapter must declare their top 4 officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer). The chartering member must be a NSBE member.
