SVCHC volunteers are making their mark! You are vital in helping SVCHC fulfill its mission of using a team and partnership approach to support the health and wellbeing of our community. SVCHC volunteers are truly making their mark in the community in the following ways...

9 volunteer teams support team SVCHC Approximately 61 volunteers (49 program and 12 Board) Total of approximately 6,000 hours for the fiscal year

Welcoming Hundreds of clients greeted with a smile There is no way to measure the power of a friendly face, a smile and someone to talk to! In the 2016 Client Satisfaction survey 98% of clients said they always feel comfortable and welcome!

Individuals and families had increased access to healthy food In 2015, 718 Green boxes were distributed from SVCHC alone Over 1,530 in the city of Cornwall

Garden Skills & Community Empowerment Approximately 53 families including 153 children Hamilton Crescent – 28 garden plots – 15 garden boxes New Johnstown Court (Lemay Street) – 5 garden boxes – 5 raised beds

Balance for Life - Start Up & Stay Up! Over 400 registrants in Balance for Life program in Cornwall and SD&G Over 950 BFL classes offered in Cornwall and SD&G Start Up - clients were given the opportunity to increase their strength and endurance while becoming educated on how to live safer in their homes.

Balance for Life – Step Up! Leadership and mentoring skills Step Up! – Prevention, keeping people active before they become higher risk

Walking to Wellness Over 100 participants in the “Get W.I.T.H. It!” walking program (averaged over 30 walkers per session) We walked to Halifax and back for a total of more than 1,400 km Fun and Friends and activity Several more in the summer Wellness Walkers group
