 Graduation is right around the corner……..  Where will you be next year and how will you get there?  College Fair at MFHS September 30 th in the cafeteria!! 30+ colleges!!

 I will be aware of several post-secondary options available to me.  I will understand the application procedure and timeline of my post- secondary choice.  I will know how to request a transcript from Family Connections.  I can access Scholarship and Financial Aid information.

 I’m a rock star.  I have an idea, but haven’t hit the gas.  Destination unknown.  Why I am even here?

EMPLOYMENT (Apprenticeship possibilities) CAREER/TECHNICAL COLLEGE WCTC, MATC, Aveda – Attend Open House for fee waiver MILITARY (Take ASVAB) 2 YEAR COLLEGE UW Waukesha, UW Washington County 4 YEAR COLLEGE or UNIVERSITY POST SECONDARY PATHWAYS

 UW Colleges started to accept applications September 15 th.  Attend either the Milwaukee National College Fair (Wisconsin Center, Milwaukee 9/27) or Wisconsin College Fair (9/21-9/23 – various high school in Milwaukee area) or The MFHS College Fair here at MFHS on Wednesday, September 30 th in our cafeteria from 6-8 pm!!!!!!!  Know each individual school deadline.  The official date to start applying for WCTC or MATC is October 1, some programs fill up very quickly. Open House: November 12 th 4-8. WCTC tour on October 27 th 4:30-6:30.  Retake ACT/SAT in October or December if necessary. *Info available in Student Services!  Apply for Financial Aid as soon as possible after January 1 st. Check with individual colleges for deadlines. Tuesday, January 12 th at 6:00 pm is Financial Aid Night. Grant vs. Scholarship vs. Loan  Search and apply for scholarships throughout school year. Some schools require you to apply separately. Senior Scholarship meeting with Mrs. Zindl is Tuesday, February 16 th. *Scholarship GridScholarship Grid  Once you have been accepted at a school and have decided to attend, be sure to turn in all paperwork, pay housing deposit and manage financial aid if applicable and take placement tests.

 College Application - the easiest way to apply to a school is through their website. Website links are included in the Family Connections website UW websiteUW website  Application Fee - this can be paid online with a credit card or a check(fee waiver for free/reduced lunch)  Applicant Statement – these are included in the application and should be completed with great time and effort. ( Examples: UW-Madison: Consider something in your daily life you think goes unnoticed and write about why it’s important to you, UW-Milwaukee: Please tell us about your particular life experiences, talents, commitments and/or interests you will bring to our campus. & Tell us about your academic goals, circumstances that may have an impact on your academic performance.) Copies of all applicant statement are available in Student Services office or online.  Transcript – visit to electronically transmit your transcript. Username= 4/3/2 Password: 6 digit numerical ID *HOW TO IN FAMILY CONNECTIONhttp://connection.naviance.com/mfhs  Letters of Recommendation – Give teachers, coaches, employers at least 2-3 weeks prior to the deadline if not more time to complete. *HOW TO IN FAMILY CONNECTION  ACT/SAT Scores – You must contact (ACT) or (SAT) to have your official ACT score sent to a specific University or College. MFHS is not able to send ACT/SAT scores.

 Your Family Connections account will allow you to track and verify receipt of your transcript and any other materials submitted electronically.  Periodically update your status on Family Connections account. You can enter information in your “Colleges I’m Applying To” using the “Update Status” tab. This information will benefit you and will help your counselor better continue to assist you with your postsecondary plans.

 All Seniors committed to attending a career/technical college, 2 year/4 year college or the military will be invited to attend our Senior Pennant Signing Celebration.
