A wetu is a Wampanoag home. It is made from tree trunks, bark and reeds.

Who was Squanto?

Squanto was a member of the Pawtuxet tribe. He was captured and sold as a slave in Spain.

Who was Massasoit?

Massasoit, chief of the Wampanoag.

What did Squanto and Massasoit do together?

Together they met with the Pilgrims. They created a treaty that lasted for many years. He helped teach the Pilgrims to hill plant, build fishing traps, and where to hunt and fish.

What happened to the Wampanoag in the early 1600s because of the arrival of the Europeans?

The arrival of the Europeans brought disease. This caused many of the Native Americans to die from epidemics.
