Optimized support for Citrix desktop virtualization Today (Compatibility Mode)  Citrix HDX RealTime® encodes and decodes media, and simulates devices to the Sametime Client  Sametime Client also encodes and decodes media for transmission to and from the remote endpoint  Double duty! Heavy load on the server! Sametime Next (Optimized Mode)  Sametime plugin on the Citrix Receiver encodes and decodes media for direct exchange with the remote endpoint  Lower latency! No additional load on the Citrix server!  XenApp® first, with XenDesktop® to follow at a later time

Direct-registration softphone Easy telephony integration  Updated softphone can register directly to a SIP-based IP-PBX  Lightweight client-side integration eases deployment for on-premises and cloud service  Simple to configure Can be performed by administrator Flexibility  Support for diverse telephony providers, including Cisco, Avaya, and more

Direct-registration softphone Softphone capabilities  Place & receive calls from the rich client  Telephony Features Multi-line appearance, mute/unmute, raise/lower volume, start/stop video, hold/resume, leave call  Sametime Features Click-to-Call, Dial Pad, dial directly from Quick Find, view call history  Treated as a device on the PBX For single number reach, endpoint management, etc.

Improved A/V scalability for mixed conferences Sametime supports mixed conferences, which are combinations of AVC, SVC, and audio-only endpoints  However, mixed conferences have a detrimental affect on the scalability of the Video MCU, due to the need for media transcoding and other factors  Ongoing improvements have largely eliminated the penalty for mixed mode conferences  More to come!
