Pre-Assessment What is this? How was it formed? How does it shape the landscape?

Go Find Out What features do glaciers erode? How many can you name?

The Big Question Why is Mont Blanc so pointy?

Knowledge Map How do the following features form? U-Shaped Valley Arete Pyramidal Peak Corrie For your assessment you will need to be able to describe them, explain their formation and draw a diagram. A real life case study would also be useful! Also – don’t forget to answer The Big Question!

Assessment and Evaluation You will be completing a test made up of real GCSE questions about glacial features. Foundation Paper: 14/20 = C 12/20 = D 10/20 = E 8/20 = F Higher Paper: 16/20 = A* 14/20 = A 12/20 = B 10/20 = C There is no need to submit an actual project for this topic – it’s all about what you learn and remember for the test. It’s about KNOWLEDGE not PRETTINESS! We will also complete some self and peer assessment with your papers.

Top Tips and Keywords Describe = Say what is there and what it looks like Explain = Say how it formed – use this structure for best marks! Location – start by saying where it’s found Process – explain how it is made from start to finish, using keywords and a case study. Future – what happens next? What happens when the ice goes? When you turn this to a diagram you should add numbered labels to show the order in which things happen. This is called annotation. Useful keywords can be found in your book…
