What are things that could cause a bad economy?

The Boy’s coming back from war

Aspects we will look at

Notes # 1 The Great Depression Part 1 In the U.S. After America’s great victory in World War I our nation was at the top. Americans were rich, well fed, our country was powerful, when many industrial nations (Britain, France, Germany) lay in ruins from the war.

Too big to fail? America had never seen such prosperity in its history. Our military was the strongest. Our farmers were farming more land than ever to feed the world and making bank like crazy. Our factories had been working over time to meet the demands of the war, even expanding their shops.

The Roaring Twenties After the war ended in 1918, the earlier 1920s were just awesome!!! America was still riding the awesome train from their victory after the war.

Flappers

Well dressed men!!!

Awesome Rides!!!

Millionaires like crazy!!! I have a yacht, made out of FISH BONES!!!

What could go wrong??? I mean, or at least I hope you know, that something did go wrong, terribly wrong, like GREAT DEPRESSION WRONG. SO HOW DID THIS HAPPEN ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Too big to fail? America had never seen such prosperity in its history. Our military was the strongest. Our farmers were farming more land than ever to feed the world and making bank like crazy. Our factories had been working over time to meet the demands of the war, even expanding their shops.

The Bright Bulb

The Hero: The American Soldier The American soldier came home with a great parade. But after everyone was done cheering, he found out that his old job had been taken. When he tried to look for another job, they too were taken. All the growth that occurred during the war, was not needed now, who needs a thousand tanks made?

The Hero: The American Soldier The American army during World War I was promised a bonus “called Bonus Army”. This Bonus was to be paid in 1946, but the soldiers need money now.

The Hero: The American Soldier The Bonus Army was crushed, and they would not get their bonus until The soldiers instead melted away into society, and poverty.

The Farmer Farmers before World War I managed small farms that they could afford. But when World War I came around, they were encouraged to buy more land to farm so that they could feed not only Americans, but also their allies in Europe.

The Farmer Even after the war, regular city folk bought land to make more money off of farming. However, when the war was over, all of that extra food was not needed. Now farmers are left with a lot of extra land, and are making very little off of their food.

The Factory Worker During the war, many factories changed what they were making, like cars and farm equipment, to tanks and planes and guns. They also expanded their factories to meet the demands of the war, hiring many people. But when the war ended, these materials were not needed, so many factories closed, and many jobs were lost.

What can you do? On a separate sheet of paper, title it “Getting America back to work” how would stop the Great Depression in America? Make sure you come up with an answer to help the soldiers, farmers and factory workers? How can you get America back to work???
