Sannyas, Sankhya & Yoga. Mere Sannyas – futile. Perfection through Yoga.

Text 3 jïeyaù sa nitya-sannyäsé yo na dveñöi na käìkñati nirdvandvo hi mahä-bäho sukhaà bandhät pramucyate One who neither hates nor desires the fruits of his activities is known to be always renounced. Such a person, free from all dualities, easily overcomes material bondage and is completely liberated, O mighty-armed Arjuna. Fully Krsna Conscious person is truly renouncer. Neither hatred nor desires for the results of his actions. Knows his constitutional position in relation with Krsna. Qualitatively and quantitatively knows his real situation. No duality in his mind and thus whatever he does, he does for Krsna. Thus he is liberated.

Text 4-5 säìkhya-yogau påthag bäläù pravadanti na paëòitäù ekam apy ästhitaù samyag ubhayor vindate phalam yat säìkhyaiù präpyate sthänaà tad yogair api gamyate ekaà säìkhyaà ca yogaà ca yaù paçyati sa paçyati Only the ignorant speak of devotional service [karma- yoga] as being different from the analytical study of the material world [Säìkhya]. Those who are actually learned say that he who applies himself well to one of these paths achieves the results of both. One who knows that the position reached by means of analytical study can also be attained by devotional service, and who therefore sees analytical study and devotional service to be on the same level, sees things as they are.

Text 6 sannyäsas tu mahä-bäho duùkham äptum ayogataù yoga-yukto munir brahma na cireëädhigacchati Merely renouncing all activities yet not engaging in the devotional service of the Lord cannot make one happy. But a thoughtful person engaged in devotional service can achieve the Supreme without delay. Difference between Mayavad Sannyas and Vaishanva Sannyas. Vaishnava’s Sannyas is yoga-yukta and Mayavad Sannyas is source of duhkha since it is devoid of connection with Krsna (ayogatah). Devotee better situated than Mayavadi sannyasis.

Text 7-9 “One who works in devotion, who is a pure soul, and who controls his mind and senses is dear to everyone, and everyone is dear to him. Though always working, such a man is never entangled.” “A person in the divine consciousness, although engaged in seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, eating, moving about, sleeping and breathing, always knows within himself that he actually does nothing at all. Because while speaking, evacuating, receiving, or opening or closing his eyes, he always knows that only the material senses are engaged with their objects and that he is aloof from them.”

Text Duty for Lord – not affected by sinful actions just as lotus leaf. 11. Yogi - Works with body, mind, intelligence and even senses only for purification. 12. One who offers fruits to Krsna attains unadulterated peace and one who is greedy for results becomes entangled. 13. Controlling one’s nature and mentally renouncing all actions – lives happily in body. éhä yasya harer däsye karmaëä manasä girä nikhiläsv apy avasthäsu jévan-muktaù sa ucyate "A person acting in Kåñëa consciousness (or, in other words, in the service of Kåñëa) with his body, mind, intelligence and words is a liberated person even within the material world, although he may be engaged in many so-called material activities."
