WI2003 Automatic Composition of Web Service Workflows Using a Semantic Agent Jarmo Korhonen Helsinki University of Technology 15 October 2003

Prototype TWFO Ontology Workflow engine Transactions Web Services, WSDL, UDDI registry Java implementation Comparable with DAML-S process model

Planning Agent Overview

Composition Steps Use –Tasks –Transact. Requirements –Execution structure –Data Flow To compose –Executable workflow

Experiment Hard coded using DAMLJessKB Two simple workflow instances combined as a parallel workflow Result serialized back as a Java object Part of the information lost  not executable without Java code

Conclusion Workflow ontology works Composition was quite complex to implement –Would have been simpler with custom code Ontology needs to be focused to be useful –DAML-S
