You are back to your desktop. When you see this screen, close your laptop lid. Closing the lid when not in use saves energy.

Closing the lid on your computer puts it to sleep. Your teacher will sometimes ask you to close your lid on the laptop. This saves energy. When you open the lid, the screen will be black. Press any key, run your finger across the touchpad, or gently press the start button in the upper right corner to “wake it up.”

You will see this screen again. Follow the directions by holding down on the CTRL + ALT + Delete keys and log in using your user name and password. Stop here.

When you are finished using your computer, your teacher will tell you to turn off your computer. This is not the same as shutting the lid. You always want to turn your computer off at the end of school and again at night when you charge your battery.

Always turn off your computer the right way! Click on the Windows start icon.

Click on “Shut down.” Stop Here.

Always pack your laptop in the case if you are carrying it away from your classroom. If you ride a bus to school, don’t throw it on the floor, but instead hold it next to you on the seat. If you ride a bike to school, make sure that you put the shoulder strap over your head and across your body. Make sure that you charge your battery at night.

Thank you!
