WRITING ALGORITTHMS

O ur task was to get an imaginary robot to school. Firstly, we split this task into the five smaller tasks; ‘GET OUT OF BED’, ‘GET WASHED’, ‘GET DRESSED’, ‘EAT BREAKFAST’ and ‘WALK TO SCHOOL’ and five groups had to write the instructions for one of these smaller tasks. However, we soon realised that these tasks had to be broken down into even smaller tasks! For example, ‘GET DRESSED’ needed to be decomposed into ‘OPEN DRAWER’, ‘TAKE OUT TROUSERS’, ‘PUT LEFT LEG INTO LEFT LEG OF TROUSERS’, etc.

After thirty minutes writing our instructions, we put them altogether to see if we had managed to achieve our task of getting the robot to school.

Tanzanite managed to get their robot out of bed, and washed and dressed, but it didn’t eat breakfast. It walked to school but did it barefoot and carrying an empty cereal bowl all the way!

Amethyst got their robot out of bed. They then managed to feed it breakfast but it didn’t get washed. They got it to school but it was only wearing one sock!
