PROBLEM ANALYSIS The pump that sends the cooling water to conveyor may trip at any time due to various causes. The pump failure in the plant is considered as single point failure which causes the whole plant to shut off. The loading of sulphur pellets in the truck is done manually. FEASIBLE SOLUTION Solid state devices are replaced by PLC which increases reliability and reduces cost. The failure of pump is avoided by redunctancy.An alternative pump is used.When the operating pump faces a failure the control is transferred to another pump automatically.
