SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS Label Design ERP/Host Connectivity Data Management CODESOFT ® Version Sep 2009, Project name: SwordFish phase 1 INTERNAL DOCUMENT – TEKLYNX CONFIDENTIAL

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Main User Interface  Microsoft Office Blue style The user interface is based on Office Blue style.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Main User Interface  Wizards - Luna Blue style theme

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Main User Interface Toolbars are improved (toolbar sub menu …) to provide ease of use and reduce the number of icons. New Toolbars for Variables and object manipulation: When selecting and object, it is automatically selected in the object toolbar, and its data source (if any). This allows easy access to properties of both object and data source

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Main User Interface  Creation toolbar When creating a new object, user, can easily select between different options that better fit its needs: - Create a new fixed object (not linked to any data source) - Create a new object using the wizard - Create a new object that will be based on a new data source - Create a new object that will be re-using an existing data source.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Main User Interface  Tabbed Dialog box style Tabbed dialog boxes get a new outlook style that gives a modern aspect.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Wizard Features  Possibility to use wizards for edition In CODESOFT 9, Wizards do not work only in creation mode, but also in edition, allowing user to modify properties of objects or variables  Animation effects Wizards come with nice animations such as rotating effects when moving to next form, changing the color of a button when the mouse moves close to it, etc. These animations can be deactivated in the Options menu.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Wizard Features  Open Document Wizard New steps allow you to open an existing label either from a file or from LABEL ARCHIVE. You can also browse and preview the template document

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Wizard Features  Support of all variables In CODESOFT 9, the Wizards are no more limited to a few variables type. They handle all kinds of data sources including the complex ones. New variables wizards: Database Table Lookup Formulae The formula Wizard allows you to create string concatenations or arithmetic calculations.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Wizard “New Label document”  Graphical assistance User can change some parameters and sizes directly on the graphical display of the preview. The Label and Page dimensions like width, height, margin, etc, can be easily adjusted using the mouse. In the preview, handlers allow to resize the different dimensions. It is also possible to adjust the number of labels per column/row using the (+) and (x) signs.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Wizard “new Database Variables”  Your label linked to a database in a few clicks  The Database wizard allows creating a set of variables linked to a database table. Each created variable is linked to a specific table field  In a second step, user can create new objects (Text, Barcode or Image) that will be directly linked to the new database variable

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Wizard new “TableLookup Variables”  Your label linked to a database in a few clicks  The Table Lookup wizard allows creating a set of variables linked to a database table. Each created variable is linked to a specific table field. In CS8, the user interface only allows creating Table Lookup fields one by one  Like for Database, user can also create new objects (Text, Barcode or Image) that will be directly linked to the new database variable At the end All variables and objects are created and a predesigned label is built up automatically. User just needs to adjust the layout.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Wizard “new Database connection”  A new wizard allows users to create database connections for most common database (Access, Excel, SQL Server, Oracle,…), following database specific dialogs For example, the wizard enumerates the different SQL servers available on the network. User can easily select which SQL db to use.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Wizard “new Formulae”  A new wizard allows to easily build new formulae, and add as much operators and operands as needed Novice user can quickly build a formula with just a few mouse clicks. He can also easily build complex formulae by concatenating as much operators and operands as he wants.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 The filler form is now available in a separate view This allows having both the design of the Label in one View and the filler form in an other view The form can be resized and customized. The same form is used at print time.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 The filler form can be customized Fonts, Colors, etc, can be customized. Controls in the form can be ordered  A new option has been implemented : « Data input one by one ». This allow users to be prompted for data one by one which can be useful when having to scan data

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Simplified database Query The standard mode allows users to easily select the data source, table and fields they would like to use. In this mode, it is also possible to sort the results. The “new database connection” wizard is also directly accessible to quickly create any new db connection if the connection does not exist yet.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Graphical Query builder For advanced users, the SQL mode is still available. It now provides a color syntax editor. A new SQL Query builder allows to create simple or complex DB queries in a GRAPHICAL way. Many functionalities are offered in the tool, such as : creating queries with variables as parameters Changing the target Database system, and the tool will re-generate its appropriate “SQL dialect” Modifying directly the sql syntax and the graphical representation will get instantly updated

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Sample query with table jointure and filter based on variable. Just drag and drop the two table on the workspace. The Jointure is automatically done by the SQL query builder and illustrated by the link between the two tables It is also possible to filter data by just entering the criteria. Criteria can used fixed value or can use existing variable from the document (like in this sample) The Query builder is also available for Table Lookup.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 GS1 Databar is based on the formerly RSS symbologies Barcodes are renamed and GS1 wizard is enhanced to ease the creation of Databar complex variants GS1 Databar

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 This barcode is based on different barcode symbologies (Code 39, Code 128…) The data structure is complex and requires a specific Wizard to build it like in LABELVIEW HIBC Wizard

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Labels can come either from the windows folders or from LABEL ARCHIVE if installed on the PC. This tool Compares all label details: - Objects and their properties - Data sources and their properties - Label/Page format - Document properties Label Comparator This new tool allows to compare two labels. It is helpful in several customer processes. Typical use cases : -Design stage : compare version 1 and version 2 of a given draft label -Production Printing : analyze print issues or printout differences. Compare label production version with its test version

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 A detailed report allows to navigate among the differences using a tree view Label Comparator

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 More and more integration projects use the.NET technology in either C# or VB.net. Whereas development in this technology is easy, integration with products that use different technologies is not always seamless. For example CODESOFT 8 and other Label Design products mostly propose an ActiveX interface that requires special programming constraints, like releasing each ActiveX interface instance explicitly. This new wrapper will bring easier integration for the benefit of all developers:  Integrators who develop in DotNet now can chose between the CS ActiveX interface or the CS DotNet interface  The same interface will benefit to our Level3 developments  The same interface will benefit to CODESOFT R&D development (new tools like Label Comparator already use this interface) DotNet Wrapper

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Installing  No more product range selection at install time This will ease the installation process as the person who installs the program does not always know the exact product range  Possibility to select Installation destination drive This will allow to install on a “D:” drive for example, which is not possible today  Installation of Add-On or Tools is integrated in the CS 9 install No need to run other install programs to install the following Add-ons CFI POF Manager Form Designer Form Viewer Label Comparator

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Product Range management  Automatic Product Range selection based on License When running CODESOFT 9, the product range is automatically detected from the data present in the customer License (Hardware Key, Software key, Tatoo). End user doesn’t need anymore to select the product range from the program menu.  Improved handling of product ranges When DEMO key is used, or when no License is found (end-user evaluating our product) a Product Range selection is proposed in Tools\Options. Note: There is now a single technical platform for the whole range of product. Configuration files are now shared. When installing printers for Enterprise all parameters are shared with Run-time. This also avoids some configuration issues when working with SENTINEL.

What’s New in CODESOFT 9 Other  New CD interface A new interface based on web page technology is delivered with CODESOFT 9.0  Supported OS  CODESOFT 9.0 will work with XP, Vista, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server, and with the upcoming Windows 7 (to be launched on 22 October 2009)  CODESOFT 9.0 does not work with Windows 2000 anymore
