Requirements Supervisor Supervisors (Per ASHA and Washington State requirements) – WA state license (non-school) – ESA certificate (school) – ASHA certification – Minimum of two years, post-CF clinical experience. – Recommended--Yearly participation of Continuing Education courses

Requirements Student MedSLP Students Practica – 2-3 days a/week (16 hr/wk) – Autumn, Winter, Spring Qtrs – Goal ASHA hours of direct patient contact Internship – 4-5 days/week (40hr/wk) – Summer Qtr – In-state or Out of State options – ASHA Hours CORE Student Secondary Practica (School) – ½ day/ week – Manage 1 case from SLP load – Take data for all others Pre-internship (Non-school) – 1 day/week (1-8hr/wk) – Learn facility, supervisor, caseload, basic orientation – Winter/Spring Qtrs Internship (Non-School) – 4-5 days/week (40hr/wk) – Spring/Summer Qtrs

Responsibilities Supervisor Educate – Provide regular direction, modeling, facilitation, collaboration when evaluating and treating disordered populations. – Explain the underlying clinical evidence base for practice. – Discuss ethical, legal, regulatory and reimbursement aspects of the profession Coordinate – Provide a structured practicum experience with clearly identified clinical goals and objectives – Provide opportunities for students to practice, demonstrate, and refine their clinical skills Evaluate – Complete formal midpoint and final written evaluations (ART) – Provide regular constructive feedback either written or verbal – Make recommendation for credit/no credit – Identify clinical and professional goals/next steps.

Responsibilities Student Professional – Come ready to learn- engaged and participating – Adapt to that environment (student vs. professional) Administrative – Hours/ Forms/Deadlines/ Requirements—Student – Notes/Reports/Forms--Professional Clinical – Clinical foundation – New concepts to build upon foundation (across disorders or settings)
