GPA SAT I & II Extracurricular Activities Essays & Recommendation Letters MIT Not all about perfect scores!!

 1. Need PASSION for whatever he/she loves doing - Math / Science (more MIT) - Art - Music - Sports - Dance - Architecture - Politics - History - Writing Etc. etc…

 2. Take new initiatives and show dedication  Examples: ◦ - Volunteering weekly at a homeless shelter and hospital for two years ◦ - Finding and competing in regional science fairs and math competitions (KSEA!). ◦ - Founding and leading a Science Honor Society (student club) ◦ - Running track & field and swimming for four years ◦ - Singing at Maryland All-state and All-County Chorus for four years ◦ - Fill your own activity here!

 3. Spend each summer in a productive manner  BAD: - 빈둥빈둥 : Eating, sleeping, watching Korean dramas  GOOD: - Finding a job / summer internship - Volunteering - Taking advanced classes - Going abroad / traveling

 4. If they are doing things right, should also be having fun with (almost) everything! MIT unofficial motto = “Work hard, play hard”

Don't rely solely on your 2400 SAT/36 ACT scores to get you into MIT.  30. IF YOU ARE NOT PASSIONATE ABOUT LEARNING AND MIT, IT WILL SHOW IN YOUR APPLICATION.  52. Admission to MIT is like wearing spandex in public - it's a privilege not a right.
