Grace Fellowship Church Pastor/Teacher - Jim Rickard Sunday, December 15, 2013

Prov 3:5, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”

The Prophecies and Importance of the Birth of Christ!

Psa 18:2, “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

The Importance of being Born in the Likeness of Adam!

Phil 2:8, “Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

2 Cor 5:21, “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Col 1:19-20, “For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.”

In order to be our substitute and pay the price for our sins, Jesus had to be like us, true humanity, in the form of the perfection of the head of the human race, Adam.

I. Luke 3:23

I. Luke 3:23 This is to prove the blood line of Jesus Christ from Adam through Mary.

I. Luke 3:23 This is to prove the blood line of Jesus Christ from Adam through Mary. Jesus is the son of Mary, Adam and God!

Mark 1:1, “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.”

Mark 15:39, “When the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw the way He breathed His last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!””

Being of like kind is the first qualification Jesus had to accomplish to propitiate the righteousness and justice of God the Father regarding our sin.

II. Rom 5:14

II. Rom 5:14 “Death’s Reign” means sin nature control of your soul, which began when Adam chose to sin, and remains in man unless he accepts Christ as his Savior.

By the Lord clothing Adam with skins from a sacrificed lamb, Gen 3:21, He covered their nakedness/sin, giving a beautiful picture of the substitutionary saving work of our Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross.

“From Adam to Moses”, tells us that Adam’s real spiritual death would be passed down from generation to generation.

The importance of the virgin birth of Christ was that He had no OSN and could not receive the imputation of Adam’s original sin at birth, thereby being born spiritually alive, perfect and impeccable.

As Joseph and Mary could find “no room at the inn” for the birth of Christ, Luke 2:7.

As Joseph and Mary could find “no room at the inn” for the birth of Christ, Luke 2:7. Jesus had no room for the imputation of Adam’s original sin.

“A type of Him who was to come.” Just as Adam was created in perfection, Jesus was born in perfection, spiritually alive!

III. 1 Cor 15:22

Rom 8:17, “For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”

Two categories of spiritual death in human history:

Two categories of spiritual death in human history: 1) The Real Spiritual Death of Adam and the human race - total depravity, and separation from God.

2) The Substitutionary Spiritual Death of the humanity of Jesus Christ on the Cross as a result of the imputation and judgment of all sins.

Rom 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Rom 8:3, “For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh.”

1 Peter 2:24, “And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.”

“In Christ all will be made alive.” The believer receives resurrection to eternal life.

Rom 2:21, “For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead.” Cf. 1 Cor 15:51-56; 1 Thes 4:14-17.

IV. 1 Cor 15:45

IV. 1 Cor 15:45 The difference between our physical (Adamic natured) bodies compared to our resurrection (Christ natured) bodies.

The natural body is, “perishable, dishonorable, and weak: earthy.”

The natural body is, “perishable, dishonorable, and weak: earthy.” The resurrection body will be, “imperishable, glorified (honorable), and powerful: heavenly.” 1 Cor 15:42-44

Grace Offering Prov 3:9-10, “Honor the LORD from your wealth and from the first of all your produce; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine.”
