 Incommunicable Attributes of God: We do not have these in common with Him He does not overtly express and communicate these to us

 Communicable Attributes of God: We do have these in common with Him He does express and communicate these to us

 God’s GOODNESS The goodness of God means that God is the final standard of GOOD All that God is and does is worthy of approval

 “No one is GOOD, but GOD ALONE!”

 “For the L ORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations”.

 “O taste and see that the Lord is GOOD!”

 “And God saw everything that he had made and behold, it was very good”.

 “You are good and you do good, teach me your statutes.”

 ” Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and pleasing.”

 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”

 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

 Not only is God the standard of GOOD, He is the SOURCE OF GOOD.

 “I say to the L ORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”

 God’s LOVE God’s love is demonstrated by fact that He eternally gives himself to others.

 “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

 “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

 God’s MERCY, GRACE, & PATIENCE God’s MERCY means His goodness toward those in misery and distress

 God’s MERCY, GRACE, & PATIENCE God’s GRACE means His goodness toward those who only deserve punishment

 God’s MERCY, GRACE, & PATIENCE God’s PATIENCE means His goodness in withholding punishment toward those who continue to sin over a period of time, despite His warnings to stop

 “The L ORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.”

 Am I merciful? Do I show goodness to those in misery or distress?  Do I give grace? Forgiving and loving those who don’t deserve it?  Am I patient? Do I give others time to make mistakes and learn lessons, knowing that we are all on a different journey and we are going to stumble along the way?

 God’s HOLINESS God’s holiness means that he is completely separated from evil and sin.

 “Holy, holy, holy is the L ORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”

 “Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, You shall be holy, for I the L ORD your God am holy.”

 “Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.”

 We must live IN this world but we don’t have to be OF this world.

 He doesn’t need us, He wants us – in fact, he takes joy in us  He is unchanging, reliable, and never breaks his promises  He is timeless – he is, he always has been, and he always will be – He is eternal  He is Omnipresent – He is in all places at all times  He is Omnipotent – He is all powerful

 He is spirit, the Supreme Being -not of flesh and blood and not simply an energy  He is Omniscient – all knowing – knowing every detail about you and me and everything else in all creation  He is wise, always choosing what is best for his people  He is truthful and faithful and will never leave you nor forsake you

 He is Good – the true standard of Goodness  He is Loving, always giving of himself to others  He is Merciful  He extends Grace to us  He is Patient with us  And He is Holy
