IEEE Standards Association  Oversees development of standards within IEEE  Global membership today  individual members  More than 200 corporate members  Approximately participants  Broad global standards portfolio  active standards  +500 standards in development  Governed by volunteers  An independent organization  Participants come together to develop standards independent of any government organization 2

Standards Development Programs Since 2004, two methods of standards development: Individual Corporate (aka entity)

Individual Method of Standards Development Participants are “individuals”: i.e., people Individuals represent themselves Each individual participant has one vote Ballot groups are made up of a minimum of 10 individuals Ballot group participants must be IEEE-SA individual members

Individual Membership Benefits Engage in an unlimited number of Individual Projects* Ballot on unlimited number of Individual Projects Initiate new Individual Projects* Assume leadership positions on working groups Participate in IEEE-SA Board of Governors & Elections Monthly IEEE-SA Newswire Discount on the purchase of IEEE standards *Membership is not required

Corporate Method of Standards Development Participants are “entities,” e.g., corporations, universities, government bodies, associations, etc. One designated representative (DR) or alternate (DRA) votes for the entity Can send multiple participants to working groups meetings for their technical input Each Advanced corporate member has one vote in the working group Requires 3 entities to commit to advanced membership in the working group and payment of appropriate fees Requires 5 IEEE-SA corporate members (Basic or Advanced) to be a valid Sponsor ballot

Corporate Membership Levels Two levels of corporate membership Basic Membership - Observers An entity must be an IEEE-SA Basic corporate member to attend an unlimited number of corporate standards working group meetings as an observer only Advanced Membership - Participants To actively participate and attain voting rights an entity must be an IEEE-SA Advanced corporate member Each level consists of four tiers based on company revenue and organization type

Corporate Membership Benefits Benefits of a Basic Corporate Membership include: Unlimited corporate working group attendance as observer Unlimited Sponsor balloting of corporate standards projects Complimentary IEEE-SA individual membership for company employees Discounts on IEEE.tv Marketplace video placement and sponsorship Listing on IEEE-SA Corporate Channel web area Right to vote governance of IEEE-SA by electing IEEE-SA Corporate Advisory Group (CAG) and IEEE-SA Board of Governors (BOG) members Right to serve as a CAG member and be part of the governance of the IEEE-SA Receive standards-related information such as e-newsletters Discount on purchase of IEEE standards Note: Non IEEE-SA corporate members have the ability to attend one corporate standard working group to help them determine their interest in participating

Corporate Membership Benefits Benefits of Advanced Corporate Membership include (all Basic Corporate Member benefits plus): Participate in any corporate working group meeting (unlimited corporate working group attendance) ―Make proposals and technical contributions, be part of a proposal team, speak on motions Upon gaining voting rights in the working group (usually by attending a specific number of meetings) can: ―Make motions and vote in any working group meeting, nominate and elect working group officers, serve as working group officers Participate in Industry Connections activities IEEE-SA project support to bring corporate standards to successful conclusion NOTE: Membership and voting rights in working groups are subject to Sponsor and working group rules
