What’s New with On-Line Program?  All sections received a total upgrade for the school year to include:  New introductions of each section/subsection  Female voice narration  New photos  New images  New meds added  Learn files updated for all sections*  20% of test questions are new  Content updated to current pharmacy procedures  Top 200 drugs becomes PA too many versions by different criteria available.

Why take the Pharmacology for Medical Careers Program?  Teaches HSE students about pharmacy operations, identification of drugs, and prepares for technician jobs while still in high school.  Schools districts are seeking CTE programs leading to national certification and containing option for end-of course testing.  Provides a foundation of pharmacy operations and medications for all future medical careers.  PMC graduates can become employed part-time as nationally certified pharm techs while working their way through medical school  Students completing a PMC program are ahead of their peers in postsecondary medical training.

Duties:  Techs assist pharmacist with non-judgmental tasks  Techs count, pour, weigh, measure, and label  Techs master computer skills/keyboarding  Techs practice customer service skills  Techs use phone/communication skills  Medications must be checked by pharmacist before dispensing to patient

Michigan Pharmacy Technician Requirements (ACT 285) Effective: December 22, 2014  Qualifications  High school or GED completion  Satisfy Section – character, English, fees, discipline, fingerprints  Pass any of following:  Exam of Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)  Exam of National Healthcareer Association- ExCPT (NHA)  Other exams approved by MIBOP  Beginning June 30, 2015 an individual shall not serve as a pharmacy technician unless licensed.  Three Levels of licensing:  Full  Limited  Temporary

National Pharmacy Technician Certification Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)   The PTCB Examination contains 90 questions in three job function areas. 80 questions are graded.  Requirements:  High school diploma or its equivalent  No felony conviction  The examination fee is $ (must be a high school graduate to apply)

National Healthcareer Association National Healthcareer Association Examination for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)  ExCPT Examination contains 110 questions in three job function areas. 100 questions are graded. Two hour exam.  Requirements:  High school diploma or GED  No felony conviction, or crime related to controlled substances  Examination fee: $105 ( can be administered 30 days before high school graduation)
