THE MISSION OF OTR PROGRAMS: CAS STANDARDS FOR ORIENTATION PROGRAMS (OP)  OP must facilitate the transition of new students into the institution; prepare students for the institution’s educational opportunities & student responsibilities; and initiate the integration of new students into the intellectual, cultural & social facets of the institution.  OP must collaborate with colleagues & departments across the institution to promote student learning & development, persistence & success.  OP must inform students about the institution’s history, traditions & culture to facilitate affinity & integration.  OP must reach out to reach out to relevant individuals, groups, communities & organizations internal & external to the institution to collaborate to assist in offering or improving programs & services to meet the needs of students & other constituents to achieve program & student outcomes.
