Session 1.2: Experiences of trying techniques from TDM 2 Objectives: Reflecting on learning and classroom experiences from different TD units.

Session 1.3: Using the reference sections in the Teachers’ Guide Objectives: Increasing awareness of the reference sections in the printed Teachers’ Guide.

Session 2: Professional development with TD videos (Series 1 Unit 7: Let’s start reading) Objectives: Experiencing and reflecting on the various stages of working through one of the TD units.

 Why were flashcards better for this activity than drawing pictures on the board?  (Ans: It was faster and clearer. But drawing picture on the board could work too.)  Why did the teacher ask the pupils to say if the word matched the letter on the board?  (Ans: It made them think for themselves about the sounds that the letters make.)  Why did the teacher use a game format instead of teaching in a serious way?  (Ans: It was fun for the pupils, so more motivating and memorable.  Why were flashcards better for this activity than drawing pictures on the board?  (Ans: It was faster and clearer. Session 3: Professional Development with other TD Units Objectives: Developing skills in practicing and planning the lessons through exploring more advanced techniques and concepts.

1.Elicit or teach the meanings of the words on the textbook page. 2.Play the audio. Pupils points to the words they listen. 3.Act or demonstrate words. The pupils point to the word on the page. 4.Say a word. It the word is on the page, pupils say ‘Yes’.

When did the teacher use translation to teach the meaning of a word? (Ans: Only when acting, demonstration or drawing was not possible.) What skills did the pupils use when the teacher played the audio? (Listening and reading to search for specific words.)

The teacher acted or demonstrated words. How is this more difficult than the stage with the audio? (Ans: Pupils had to remember the meanings of the words in addition to looking for them.) The pupils had to say if the words were on the page or not – how was this more difficult than the stage with the audio? (Ans: Pupils had to listen more carefully, and think more about how sounds matched with the letters.)

Session 4: Micro-teaching and goal setting Objectives: Having more opportunities to try out and plan of different EfT based activities with peers.

Micro-teaching practice what skills did the pupils practice? How well did the teacher introduce and set up the activity? How clear were the teacher’s instructions? How useful was the activity for the pupils? How enjoyable was the activity for the pupils?

Goal-setting Class 1: ক্লাসে ফিরে গিয়ে করাবেন এমন কিছু লেসন বাছাই করুন এবং এই মিটিং থেকে শেখা কৌশল কিভাবে লেসনগুলোতে ব্যবহার করবেন তার পরিকল্পনা করুন। same planning for class 2,3,4,&5 as well.
