Kindergarten News Miss Grierson October Classroom Rules Be Responsible Be Safe Be Respectful Schedule 10/12-10/16 Monday: NO SCHOOL Tuesday: Art and P.E. Wednesday: Compass and Spanish Thursday: Music and Tech. Friday: Art and P.E. On P.E. days all children need to wear tennis shoes. Girls should wear shorts under dresses. Schedule 10/19-10/23 Monday: Compass and Spanish Tuesday: Music and Tech. Wednesday: Art and P.E. Thursday: Compass and Spanish Friday: NO SCHOOL Important Dates Monday, October 12-No School Columbus Day Thursday, October 15- Mom’s Muffins 7:30-8:15 Friday, October 16- End of First Quarter Thursday, October 22- Conferences – Book Fair Friday, October 23- NO SCHOOL- Conferences – Book Fair Conferences! A blue sheet of paper is coming home today. This sheet will have your conference time on it! Please make sure to read it and send it back signed as soon as you can as I need to schedule times for 18 students. If the time given to you does not work, contact me and we will work something out! I would love the opportunity to sit down with you and go through your child’s growth! Thank you for all you do! During the conferences, we will also be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair! What are we working on in school? Please work on these at home also! Letters and Sounds- O, P, Q, and R (please review A-N) Sight Words- up, down, is, it Reading-find sight words in stories/Read 20 minutes every night, record the minutes in the planner, and return on Mondays with 100 minutes Complete the letter pages in planner that go with the dates each week Math-Practice all the ways to make 5,6,and 7 (ex: 6 is 4 and 2 or 7 is 4 and 3 etc. Writing-practice drawing a picture and labeling the parts with stretched spelling (sounding out the word) Second Step-Recent lessons have focused on being assertive, expressing your feelings in a positive way and recognizing others’ feelings. Folders Make sure to check your child’s folder daily. Help your child take out any papers that are completed and do not need to be returned to school! We are working on being organized and responsible. Remember, a clean folder is a HAPPY folder Fire Safety Week To celebrate Fire Safety Week, our class will take a field trip to Fire Station 16 next Tuesday. It will be an awesome opportunity to visit our local community helpers and hear about their job. We will learn all about fire safety and the firemen will give us a tour They will talk about having a fire safety plan at our school and at our homes. Please talk to your child about the fire safety plan you have at your house!
