Fourth Grade New Things To Remember Monday is an D Day, Tuesday is an A Day, Wednesday is a B Day, Thursday is a C Day, and Friday there is no school. The weather will be changing soon. Please make sure you check the weather each day and dress your child appropriately. Every month we could use store donations. The kids like silly putty, gel slap hands, juice boxes, baseball cards, etc… Please send a healthy snack with your child each day! Fruit, veggies and dip, cheese, yogurt, etc…all make great snacks. It is very important that your child reads every day. We expect that 4 th graders are reading 100 minutes per week. Good readers read! Please have your child record his/her minutes on his log/response. Also, don’t forget that the reading response is due EVERY TUESDAY unless we say otherwise. Don’t forget to sign the response each week. Your child can turn in his/her response early on Monday if they like. PRACTICE MULTIPLICATION FACTS!! The test will be on Thursday. W.B. pages Language Arts: We will begin our first writing piece next week. We will teach the Writing Process and Six Plus One Traits of writing. Math: We are not switching for math next week. Since it is Mrs. Hughes first week back to school, we thought it would be a great way for her to get to know her own students before we switched again for math. We are working on prime and composite numbers, finding factors and multiples, and patterns. Reading: We are learning how to find the main idea, compare and contrast, and use somebody, wanted, but, so, then to summarize. We will complete our novel study next week. Science: Your child should be able to construct an argument that plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction. Please, please, please help your child memorize his/her multiplication facts! Knowing these facts is an essential 4 th grade skill! Your child will struggle with many skills we learn in 4 th grade if he/she doesn’t know his/her basic facts. Look for your child’s report card next week! Please check Skyward on a regular basis. Grades should be no surprise! If you don’t know how to log in to check grades, please let your child’s teacher know that they may show you how to do it. Start thinking about what your child will wear. They should be dressed like a character from a book. They will wear a printed book cover or handmade book cover to show who they are.
