Helping young people to plan and undertake their own programme of activities to develop mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually

Benefits You'll see all kinds of new talents bloom in your child as they achieve their Award including: Self-belief Self-confidence A sense of identity Initiative A sense of responsibility A real awareness of their strengths New talents and abilities The ability to plan and use time Ability to learn from others in the community New friendships Problem solving, presentation and communication skills Leadership and teamworking skills Telegraph newspaper; value of achieving a DofE Award (published 26 August 2011) When your child does their DofE they'll develop the skills and attitudes they need to become rounded, confident adults. Numbers Last year we had 97 students undertaking the Bronze award. This year the award is being offered to all students in year 10. Total cost £120 (this covers everything other than food students take on the expedition + personal walking gear) – Some equipment will be provided (tents/stoves…) – Boots/bags/clothing should be owned by the student so they are familiar with it and it is worn in.

What’s next? Year 10s need to complete the registration form and get it back to me by the end of this week. Pay the deposit of £30 a place for the Bronze Award. I will register all pupils to allow them to log on and start completing their sections. Volunteering will be begin with Citizenship Training sessions will be on Monday after school 3-4pm( January 2016) (cover camp craft,1 st aid, route planning…) Expedition and practice will be in June / July 2016
