Glossary Ground Bass: A low sequence of notes repeating throughout the song. Ostinato: A short repeating pattern. Melody: The main tune of the piece. Silence: A silence in between a song. Counter Melody: A melody played over your melody. Texture: the amount of music played at any one time. Broken Chords: A chord that is broken into separate notes. Pentatonic Scale: A scale of five notes C,D,E,G,A. Harmony: A Harmony is a higher version of the bass.
