Healthy weight /weight management commissioning plans Local authorities are responsible for tier 1 and tier 2 healthy weight/weight management interventions o Tier 1 - Universal interventions (prevention and reinforcement of healthy eating and physical activity messages) o Tier 2 – lifestyle weight management services

Healthy weight / weight management commissioning plans Tier 1 includes  Breastfeeding strategy  Surrey Infant and child feeding guidelines  Start 4 Life  Change 4 Life  Healthy Schools – healthy eating and physical activity  Cook and eat  Surrey Eat Out Eat Well award  HENRY (both tier 1 and tier 2)

Change 4 Life campaigns Two campaigns per year June to September 2015 – physical activity 10 min Shake up January 2016 – healthy eating with focus on Sugar o Wide range of partners involved e.g. Children’s centres, schools, libraries, physical activity providers, etc. o Targeted mailout to postcodes in Stoke ward (Guildford) this summer as has high level of excess weight (Y6)

To assist health professionals and others working with children to raise the issue of weight with children, young people and parents who are overweight Details of courses and online training =437 Child obesity ‘Raising the issue of weight’ training

Healthy weight / weight management commissioning plans HENRY (tier 1 and tier 2) o Aimed at families with children under five years o Targeted at families at higher risk of obesity e.g. from more deprived communities, engaged with Family Support Programme, from black and minority ethnic groups, etc. o Includes core training for health and children’s centre staff, working with nurseries and childminders and HENRY groups and intensive 1 – 2 – 1 programmes for families at highest risk o Referral by health and care professionals or self-referral

Tier 2 children/young people Central Surrey Health school nursing team are piloting a 5 – 19 service (May- Oct 2015) Public Health will be commissioning a Surrey-wide tier 2 service from April 2016 Healthy weight / weight management commissioning plans

Tier 2 adult weight management service Commissioning services based on CCG localities Course will be based on NHS Weight Loss guide weight-getting-started.aspx weight-getting-started.aspx Exercise component will be based on existing exercise referral schemes and other low impact exercise e.g. Walking for health GWCCG locality – places for approx. 150 patients over the 5 months of the contract Will be announcing provider for GWCCG in next couple of weeks Healthy weight / weight management commissioning plans
