Sonia Bonet (703) Army Child and Youth Services MISSION Support readiness and well-being of families by reducing the conflict between military mission requirements and parental responsibilities 1 in 4 soldiers use Army Child and Youth Services as a “life cycle” service. Increase AVAILABILITY through on and off post child care options and supervised programs for youth. Achieve and sustain QUALITY by pursuing nationally recognized benchmarks and performance standards. Maintain AFFORDABILITY for both Soldiers and the Army. Ensure ACCOUNTABILITY through measurable outcomes. FOCUS FACTS: 18% of Army parents lost duty time in a 12 month period because of dealing with youth misconduct problems during duty. (SSMP 2001) 27% Enlisted Soldiers and 20% Officers with children lost duty time in a 3 month period due to lack of Child Care. (SSMP 2002) “Military is Model of Child Care Efficiency.” USA Today, May 2000

Sonia Bonet (703) Army Child and Youth Services CYS Support for Children of Warriors in Transition Living In the New Normal (LINN)  Encourages communities to ensure their military children have the tools to deal with deployment issues, foster home front efforts to support military children, and provide educators, and other concerned adults with information to help them support children during times of uncertainty, trauma and grief.  LINN's efforts are predicated on the belief that children are courageous and resilient and that these skills can be strengthened through deliberate encouragement by the adults in their lives.  MCEC has developed three key components to meet this initiative: Professional Development, Resources and Research-based References, and Public Engagement.  Trainings taking place at Garrisons, contact CYS SFAC Liaison or Garrison School Liaison Officer for training dates and enrollment procedures
