Presentation transcript:

Introduction The weight of water is an intriguing 2012 novel written by Sarah Crossan, and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers. The book is about a polish girl named Kasienka, who moves to England with her mother in search of her missing father. Kasienka originally hates England, she lives in a terrible studio flat and is bullied at school. After a while, she realises that England isn't that bad and she joins a swimming team for her school.

Scene with main character I am twelve years old almost thirteen. I have budding breasts, and monthly bleeds, but I am in a class with eleven year olds. First of all the story takes place in Gdansk Glowny, where they were searching for Kasienka’s dad, who had immigrated to England in hope of a better life.

Sarah Crossan Grew up in Ireland, and England, then moved to New York. Used to me an English teacher but gave that up to be a full time author. Started writing when she was a child, made stories and children books. Her favourite book as a child was The Pigman She created lots of novels like breathe and resist

Overall review This is an overall review about the book ‘The Weight Of Water’. It is written in a form of a poem about someone's life time. Kasienka and her mother are on a trip to England. They move away because at home, there are troubles. Someone swims to her rescue when things went wrong and she discovers, life can stay afloat. We enjoyed this book because of the poetic form it was written in, was suitable for our age, was easy to follow and made us want to read on once we put it down. We would rate this 7.5 out of 10. And we all agreed that it was a stupendous book

Issues with this book There are many issues covered within this book, some of which are; poverty, racism, immigration, family, growing up, school-life and bullying. This book deals with these issues and many others in a very effective way.
