Languages Spain is devided in 17 main regions but there are only 4 main languages: - Basque (Basque Country, Navarre) - Galician (Galicia) - Spanish(Castellano) - Catalan(Catalonia, Balears, Valencia)

Dialects There are also many dialects which corresponds to the region. E.g: murician corresponds to Murcia or manchan corresponds to La Mancha.

Basque People who live in provinces near the border Spain – France speaks in this language (over 1 milion people). Some words in Basque language: What time is it? – Zer ordu da? How can I get to… - Nola iristi i… Good morning – Buenos dias Hi! – Omenez! Goodbye – Agur

Galician People living in a small part of Castile and Galicia speaks in this language ( over 3,2 milion people). Some words in galician: - Good morning – Bo dia - Goodbye – Adeus - Hi! – Honrar! - How can I get to…? – Como podo obter a…? - What time is it? - Cal e o tempo son?

Spanish Most people living in spain understand and use spanish language. This is official language of spain (sometimes called Castellano). Students in spanish schools have to learn this language besides of foreign language and other language(e.g catalan or galician). This language is used in countries of South America e.g Argentina.

Catalan People living in Catalonia, Balears and Valencia (also in Andora) understand and use that language. Some easy words: - Good morning – Buenos dies - Goodbye – Adeu - Hi! – Ola! - What time is it? – Quina hora es? - How can I get to…? – Com puc entrar…?
