Creating Real Work/Life Balance

The Dream Financial Independence & Security Time with Family & Friends Flexible Schedule Being Your Own Boss Building a Legacy Control Your Own Destiny – Take your Passion and create a business Being Challenged

The Reality Will never be able to retire Don’t recognize the person occupying the 3 rd bedroom of the family home You have a job – 24/7 – 365 Can’t give 2 weeks notice No control and destiny looks bleak Everyday is a challenge and not in a good way

Is This You?

Work/Life Balance What is your definition? Is it True? What gets in the way? How will you know when you have it? What will it look like, feel like? What is the plan to get to the balance you desire?

Definition Work–life balance is a concept including proper prioritizing between "work" (career and ambition) and "lifestyle" (health, pleasure, leisure, family and spiritual development/meditation).

Is It True? Does work-life balance exist? Where does this idea/feeling that we need work-life balance come from? Our expectations which are influenced by: Family, Friends, Culture, Education, Religion, Beliefs and Values

What Gets In The Way? The Inner Critic I’m not good with numbers. I’m not a sales person. Assumptions - past experiences When I give employees tasks they don’t do it right so I have to do everything or it doesn’t get done. Interpretations – how we view situations/people That owner client is so demanding I can never do anything right – In actuality the owner is trying to control you because their spouse has terminal cancer and they feel out of control. Limiting Beliefs – you accept ideas that limits you. I need to have all the answers No one can do the job better than me It is a sign of weakness to show emotion

Yes, Paradise Is Possible What Do You Really Want? If money and time weren’t an issue what would your IDEAL life look like? So what is stopping you? Path of PPM Passion New Business Owner Family Life Emergencies Overwhelmed with responsibility (work and life) Coaching – What did I want? (PTO & Team)

Words of Wisdom You cannot make a mistake; opportunities for growth. Don’t take it personally. The only constant is Change. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. We either grow or die. The greatest freedom is the freedom of choice. Energy attracts like energy. Doing is work, Being is effortless “Hard work. Well, that’s all right for people who don’t know about anything else.” Dan Totheroh

Business Leader’s Tips Say YES to what feeds your Energy Express your struggles openly Life is a marathon Think more and work less Have reasonable expectations of people Get more sleep Calendar Fun Recognize and accept that you can’t do it all

Practical Real World Tips Calendar everything – even fun. Block tasks such as , phone calls, projects. Have a routine – office time in a.m., field in p.m. Don’t overbook your calendar - block out open time. One to One meetings with Staff regularly. Set and Explain Expectations. Create Accountability and Ownership. Control your time fiercely – Learn to say NO. Steady growth with people and systems in place. Set clear boundaries for yourself & your business. Other Tips?

Take Away – Finding Your Paradise Decide on your ideal work/life situation. Assess your values. Are they in alignment with your vision? Remove barriers to your vision. Create systems (people & processes). Prioritize and spend your energy on YES tasks. Allow time to implement. Live the life YOU create.
