Air Powered Rocket

Rocket Body Lay two pieces of paper with their long sides over lapping Tape the paper together Roll the paper into a tube using the PVC as a guide Tape the paper along the edge to hold it together Write Team Name Here Team Name Tape

Nose Cone Use a CD or other circular shape to trace a circle onto a piece of paper Cut out the circle Fold the circle as shown on the right Tape along the open edge Open the folded paper into a cone Cut the cone base to fit on top of the rocket body

Fins Cut out 3” or 4” paper squares Fold in half along diagonal Cut ¼” inch along the fold Tape the open edge Fold along the dotted line seen at right Alternate Method cut Tape Make as many fins as you want Fold

Tape each of the fins to the body of the rocket Tape the nose cone to the other end of the body Reinforce the body, fins and cone with more tape Assembly Team Name

Rocket Booster One team member should hold the PVC piece and the 2 liter bottle together Another team member should securely tape the two pieces together Now you are ready to launch!

Calculating Force Stomping on the bottle creates pressure inside of it For ½ PVC, the radius of the tube =.31 inches The pressure in the tubes creates a force at the outlet The Launcher radius PVC Pipe How much force did you exert on your rocket?

Calculating Velocity Distance: 60 feet Time: 1.5 seconds Velocity is the rate at which an objects position changes, similar to speed Example:
