Water for Farming

Water at home
We are all 11 years old and in year 6. After school we come to the river to collect water for our families. Our families use the water to cook, clean and drink. We are all called Fati - Fati is the name given to the first girl born in the family and we are all eldest girls! Aissa Hassan (13) This is where everyone in the village comes to get water – I come here to get water too. I drop a bucket down and pull it out. My whole family uses the water I collect.
Water at School
We are all 11 years old and in year 6. Today it is our turn to leave school to go and collect water from the river – it is 1 km away. All the children at school will use the water that we collect. We are all called Fati - Fati is the name given to the first girl born in the family and we are all eldest girls! Today at school some girls from year 6 collected water for the whole school. We take it in turns to collect water from the river because there is no pump. We use it for lots of things like washing our hands. Children from Doga school
