SKILL COUNCIL for GREEN JOBS Promoted by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) An Overview of SCGJ

SCGJ - MISSION To capture the skilling needs for both service users and manufacturers/ service providers within the sector and implement a roadmap for a nation-wide, industry led collaborative skills development initiatives that will enable meet India’s potential for “Green Businesses”.

Solar (PV, Thermal) + Storage Small Hydro Biofuels & Biogas Biomass Power / Cogen / CHP Clean Cook Stoves Wind Solid Waste Management Municipal Agricultural & Animal Husbandry Water Management Sewage / Indl Effluents Treatment & Re-use, Conservation - Harvesting and Micro- irrigation Key Sectors covered under GREEN JOBS Key Sectors covered under GREEN JOBS RENEWABLES Green Jobs requirement is on pan India basis, as part of Sustainable Development & Inclusive Growth objectives Green Construction Green Buildings Green Campuses Green Transportation Electric Vehicles Bio fuels / Bio-CNG vehicles Electronic Waste Management Energy Storage

All sub sectors will be represented on Governing Council Industry membership in three categories  Governing Council  Advisory Board (Industry Majors/ Technology leaders)  Members (MSME’s) Close linkage with Industry Chambers / Industry Associations Close linkages will be established with State Governments Interaction / participation in all major Industry Expos & create comprehensive data base in Industries covered by SCGJ scope SCGJ Linkages with Industry Members (MSME) Advisory Body Governing Council

Occupational Mapping (OM) will have exhaustive Industry Input, for all segments under SCGJ scope OM to project, region wise, requirements & skill gaps analysis, based on Industry’s current & forecasted operations (factoring in trends in technology evolution). OM to cover: Occupational Mapping Principal Line Functions Manufacturing System Integration Construction O&M / Customer Support

Qualification Packs Involve Industry in “Courseware development” & “Assessment”. Work with other Skill Councils to introduce green component in their QPs Industry Facilitate MoU between Industry and TPs for placements Schools & Industry collaboration under “Apprentice Schemes” for “Activity Supervisors” Training Partner Affiliate TPs on State wise basis, as per Industry needs Allocate QPs to TPs as relevant for Industry in vicinity ITI are to be adopted as training partners for “Activity Performers” Strategy of SCGJ Employed in Industry Grow as Entrepreneurs Certified Trainees

 Targeted course curriculum for women employment and entrepreneurship  Specialized skill development programs for women in the states of Bihar, MP, Assam, Jharkhand and UP, which account for 32% of India’s female working-age population  Development of QPs which directly benefit rural women employment and entrepreneurship Clean Cook stoves and Solar cookers Household Biogas, Tree Based Oilseeds & Oil Expellers Domestic Solar Photovoltaic systems Large size Solar PV Power plants Operation & maintenance Waste management (MSW and Agriculture residues) : collection, segregation/recycling of MSW, pre-treatment of Agri residues Strategy of SCGJ for Inclusion of Women
