Health Promotion Integrate health promotion, disease prevention, and safety principles for individuals and populations. Kelly Deeney, RN Viterbo University

Health  “Absence of any disease or impairment” (Sartorius, 2006).  “A state that allows the individual to cope with the demands of daily life” (Sartorius, 2006).  “A state of balance, an equilibrium, that an individual has established within himself, and between himself and his social and physical environment” (Sartorius, 2006).

Health Promotion  “Activities that protect good health and take people beyond their present level of wellness” (Friberg & Creasia, 2016, p. 272).

Disease Prevention “Derived from the clinical model of health and puts emphasis on avoiding, deprivation, or restraint” (Friberg & Creasia, 2016, p. 273).

Causes of health promotion and disease prevention  Educate!  This is our job!
