Presentation transcript:

Setting Sail!! I choose to be Ferdinand Magellan because he probably knows the world well (continents). My crew and I will set sail on August and try to circumnavigate the world! I will be leaving from the United States of America. With four ships and 350 men. We will be leaving on a caravel the newest and fastest ship around.

What am I bringing People –Cartier –Vasco da Gama – Amerigo Vespucci Tools Compass Astrolabe Miscellaneous Item Horses

Cartier On his first expedition in 1534, he sailed up the estuary of St. Lawrence river and claimed land for France. Cartier became friendly with a group of Indians called the Iroquois. I choose Cartier because on his first expedition he was successful, not like many others and he is friendly with the Indians

Vasco da Gama Vasco da Gama reached India and sailed around the Cape Of Good Hope with four ships. He brought back to Portugal perfumes, silks, spices, and other goods I choose him because he found the way to India came back with great goods

Amerigo Vespucci America was named after Amerigo because he discovered America In that time some explorers thought that Amerigo didn't deserve to get the new continent to get named after him. I choose Vespucci because he is a good explorer and he found America the land we live in today

Astrolabe I decided to bring an astrolabe can tell us( my crew and I )where the moon, stars, and sun is located. Which can really come in handy if you are sailing a ship. So one of the tools I am bringing is the astrolabe.

Compass I choose to bring a compass tells you what direction you are sailing in, also which way is north. It is good to know which way to sail so you don’t get lost. Like some of the other explorers did

horses As my miscellaneous item I decided to bring horses they make good transportation once we reach land If any die on the boat we can eat the extra meat And if we meet any Indians they might think we are gods and shower us with gifts

Ferdinand Magellan I choose to be Magellan as my explorer because he is the only explorer we learned about who circumnavigated the world! He is also well known. And one day I would like to sail the world just like Magellan did except, you know die

Conclusion Thank you for watching My power point. And now my fellow crew and I will be setting sail. I will be setting sail with Cartier, da Gama, and Vespucci as my fellow explorers. My tools are a compass and a astrolabe. As my miscellaneous item horses will also be coming on sail with my crew and I.
