 Officials – courses for J1, J2, J2(s) and Referee are run on a regular basis VOLUNTEERS

Meet some of this year’s Young Volunteers  The programme is a springboard for many other opportunities

Liam Wilcox (Norton Radstock) is Asst Coach at ASPSC, Frome and South West Disability. He will be travelling to Zagreb with a selected squad representing ASA South West. Disability Officer for Somerset ASA and a J2 official. Amongst many wonderful experiences, he had the opportunity, along with 3 other Somerset officials to officiate at the Invictus Games in VOLUNTEERS – Young Volunteer Programme

Sophie Olver (Clevedon) and Chris Wood (Burnham on Sea) were volunteer chaperones at the Regional Residential Training Camp at Bryanston last year Young Volunteers – an opportunity

Chris Wood also attended a National Talent Camp as a Young Official, whilst George Symonds (Clevedon) was selected to attend as a Young Coach. Young Volunteers – an opportunity

 Tessa Down (Chard) coaches at her home club, but also now announces for the County and the Region at their Championships.  Nathan Clarke is moving swiftly up the officiating ranks Young Volunteers – an opportunity

 BURSARIES – these have been very sought after this year and we have been over budget for the last two years. Therefore budget target for this has been increased to £3,000 of which £1,000 to be refunded by ASA South West (to be confirmed).  To support our athletes we need to give our teachers and coaches the knowledge and skills they require, but we also need Team Managers, helpers, committee members, treasurers, announcers, administrative support WORKFORCE

 At the heart of Development are our athletes – both in and out of the pool.  We need to attract them to the sport  To help them develop to be the best they can be  To do this the club itself needs support in the following areas: WHAT CAN WE APPLY FOR?

 Governance –training and support for committees  Athlete Development – equipment/training/opportunities away from the pool  Pathway Development – networks / clubs working together in joint projects  Workforce Development – training and support for teachers and coaches additional to the bursaries, training for other roles within the club – team managers, committee, officials etc Development

 Complete the simple application form available on the website  Applications will be assessed by the panel  Decision will be communicated  Provide a report/receipt once the project is completed  Clubs can apply for a maximum of £250. Larger projects will be considered. Each application considered on its’ merit and dependant on funding available. HOW DO WE APPLY FOR DEVELOPMENT FUNDING?

SO IN SUMMARY ….  Somerset ASA can offer support via development funding in a variety of ways.  Don’t just think of Development as training for teachers/coaches or training camps for athletes  Remember – it’s about supporting our athletes as a club including the committee, equipment, officials, communication, marketing, sponsorship

THANK YOU!  ANY QUESTIONS?
