Water Water is a nutrient that is involved with all body processes: Write these circles

Water Is also in lymph, a fluid that is part of your immune system, which helps you fight off illness. You need water to digest your food and get rid of waste, too.

Water Water is needed for digestive juices, urine, and poop. And you can bet that water is the main ingredient in perspiration, also called sweat.

Water Water makes up % of your body weight. Muscle tissue has more water than fat tissue.

ARE YOU Thirsty? If you are Thirsty - you are already Dehydrated.

Dehydration Defined Dehydration occurs when you lose more fluid than you take in…

Dehydration Defined Then your body doesn't have enough water and other fluids to carry out its normal functions. –If you don't replenish lost fluids, you may suffer serious consequences.

Causes of Dehydration Intense diarrhea Vomiting Fever Not drinking water during hot weather or exercise.

Who is at Risk? Young children Older adults People with chronic illnesses

Signs of Dehydration Thirsty Decreased urine (dark color) output 8 hours or more without urination for children and teens

Signs of Dehydration Dry, sticky mouth Sleepiness or tiredness Dizziness or lightheadedness

Exercise and Hydration In general, it's best to start hydrating the day before moderate to strenuous exercise. One to 2 cups of water is usually adequate before shorter bouts of exercise. During the activity, replenish fluids at regular intervals, and continue drinking water or other fluids after you're finished.

Calculating Your H2O Intake 1/2 ounce per pound of body weight if you're not active 2/3 ounce per pound if you're active

Want to Lose Weight? DO NOT Write!! Water is quite possibly the single most important factor in losing weight Water may be the only true "magic potion" for permanent weight loss. Water suppresses the appetite naturally, hydrates your body, and helps the body metabolize stored fat. The Kidneys cannot function properly without enough water. When the Kidneys can't function properly, they deposit everything into the Liver. The Liver's function is to metabolize stored fat into usable energy. If it is doing some of the Kidney's work, then it is not working at 100% capacity and more stored fat stays as stored fat.

Vitamins Cannot be made by your body and must be obtained from your diet. Therefore vitamins are essential nutrients.

Vitamins There are 13 different types of vitamins that have been identified for carrying out vital functions of the body.

Ok, 1 st homework assignment: Give me a list of the 13 vitamins along with 3 of the following: Vitamin ___: Sources: Functions:123 Deficiency:Toxicity:123
