SEMICOLONS AND COLONS Game on…Punctuation smack down!

Semicolons  Are used in the place of a period.  Are used in place of a comma + subordinating conjunction.  for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so  Join two complete sentences that are related in idea, thought, or style.  He came into the room; he conquered the angry crowd.

Semicolons  Use conjunctive adverbs followed by a comma.  Works like AND to JOIN Besides Furthermore moreover  Works like BUT to CONTRAST However Still nevertheless  Use conjunctive adverbs followed by a comma.  Shows a RESULT Consequently Therefore Thus  Shows two things are EQUAL Equally Likewise Similarly
