Mood How writing makes you, the reader, feel.

Tone How the writer feels about what they are writing about.

Diction The author’s word choice. Author’s choose these words for their denotation and connotation.

Denotation A words dictionary definition.

Connotation The emotion that the word implies. Example: Paul shrieked when the mouse ran across the room. (Shrieked implies that Paul is scared.)
